Dr. Leslie Casely-Hayford
Associates for Change (AFC)

Dr. Leslie Casely-Hayford is the Director of Associates for Change (AfC), and has over 30 years of experience living and working in the field of international development in Asia and Africa. She is currently the West Africa Team Leader on IDRC/KIX study on Education Innovations for Rural and Marginalised children in West Africa. She has extensive experience conducting evaluation, research and policy analysis in developing contexts particularly in Africa and Asia and has supported programming along with sector-wide approaches in the education, social protection, gender equity, governance, and poverty reduction sectors.

Dr. Mat Lowe
Society for the Study of Women’s Health (SSWH)

Mat Lowe is a Lecturer in Gender, Population and Development Practice. He is the Founder and Director of Society for the Study of Women’s Health (SSWH) – a non-profit, local scientific organization that seeks to promote the health and social well-being of women in the Gambia through applied research and evidence-based advocacy. He holds a Master of Science in International Health and a PhD in Global Health Policy and Management. His work spans a wide range of social and cultural factors affecting maternal and adolescent health in the Gambia, health systems research and human resource for health in the West African region. He is an Associate Editor for BMC Global Health Research and Policy and serves as a reviewer for many peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Dr. Caroline Kabiru
African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC)

Dr. Caroline Kabiru leads the Population Dynamics and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Unit at the African Population and Health Research Center—a Pan-African research institution that generates evidence to drive policy action to improve the health and wellbeing of African people. Caroline, who has a PhD in Health Promotion and Behavior from the University of Georgia, has over 15 years of experience conducting research in sub-Saharan Africa. Much of her research focuses on the health and well-being of young people living in low-resource and marginalized urban settings. Caroline also serves on several local and international advisory groups focused on adolescent health, and sexual and reproductive health.

Dr. Fatoumata Ouattara
Institute of Research for Development (IRD)

Fatoumata Ouattara is an anthropologist (PhD), researcher at the Institute of Research for Development (IRD) and a member of the Joint Research Unit 151 at the Population Environment and Development Laboratory in Marseille, France. Her research focuses on the experiences of individuals in the face of vulnerability and stigmatization pertaining to their sexual and reproductive health and rights. The analysis of the notion of shame is central to her work. She also works on public policies related to sexual and reproductive health issues. She has been carrying out field research in Burkina Faso for twenty years and in Togo where she has lived for four years., and sexual and reproductive health.
